CDOR Security Mandate as of June 1st, 2010

As an added effort to provide data security of confidential records the Colorado Department of Revenue (CDOR) placed a June 1st, 2010 mandate that all electronic file transfers utilize the protocol File Transfer Protocol Secure (FTPS). This is an extension of the commonly-used File Transfer Protocol (FTP) that adds support for for the Transport Layer Security (TLS) and the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) cryptographic protocols.

Cypher Connectivity complies with the FTPS mandate and has SSH File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) capability; this encrypts data in binary code and is a secure file transfer subsystem for the Secure Shell (SSH) protocol. This is the highest level of encryption, 256-bit and is not transmitted using clear text. If you need assistance in meeting this mandate, we can assit you in making this transition. This does not require additional information technology staff or equipment. Cypher Connectivity offers you total technical support, complete informations services such as resolving reporting issues or troublshooting compliance protocols, and full information discovery of multiple national data sources to give you complete and validated information.

Why is Electronic Reporting Significant to Serving the Needs of Public Safety and Justice?

According to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (U.S. Department of Commerce) we are inundated with 90,000 terabytes of web-based information, an annual increment of 400,000 terabytes of e-mail, and increasingly large collections of organizational and sensor-based data, all requiring translation. This is more information than humanly possible to digest, much less process on a manual level. Within this mass communication are the cases and revealed trends of chronic DUIs, domestic abuse, minors in possession, vandalism and gang violence, all with significant impacts to your community. Electronic reporting, unlike file exchange or transfers, is directly integrated and translates data into mandated protocols between various agencies preserving each organization's business processes. In addition, you need only to enter data once eliminating repetitive efforts and reducing labor cost.
